foxlee
Just uploaded a 15 car low poly collection. I use these a lot and they are fairly neutral in colour. http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/356021 Would be interesting to see what is popular. What formats would you mostly use? Aaron2004
Does anybody here know where one could aquire a nice semi/large truck model? I don't mind paying for it. Is turbosquid the best way?

Ernest Burden III
Just uploaded a 15 car low poly collection. I use these a lot and they are fairly neutral in colour. Those look good. Do you have a wireframe you could add to the images of the product? How many maps per car model? The best answer for me would be 'one'.
Chad Warner
How many maps per car model? The best answer for me would be 'one'. In the description he says there's one map for diffuse and one map for opacity. And the cars do look pretty good!
foxlee
There is one map diffuse and one opacity map for the windows. Not always sure about selecting the coloured body panels for color changes to each . It takes me a bit long ,would probably help if I add photoshop file with masks. Sorry that i am actually really advertising here, but I never know how to market these things properly, there is so much on Turbosquid at the moment that everything gets lost. Nic H
wow they look great, good price as well! anyone bought any of these? the renders look like photos.
Chad Warner
I Just purchased some of the lowpolygon3d car sets, and I have to say they look real good. I wouldn't use them for close ups, but for animation across a parking lot, they work great.
Jim Mann
Don't suppose that anybody using the Dosch cars could tell me what sort of typical poly count they have? Thanks in advance. Jim
Horhe
Don't suppose that anybody using the Dosch cars could tell me what sort of typical poly count they have? Thanks in advance. Jim I suggest you download a sample of dosch cars from: http://www.doschdesign.com/products/3d/Cars_2004.html The link is to the bottom of the page in different kinds of formats ranging from 3dsmax cinema4D and even vue... Best to check out the poly count for yourself ;] Cheers

Best to check out the poly count for yourself ;] Cheers ...buried at the bottom of an old page more like. Not much good if you are looking at the 2007 set and the "samples" link just leads to images. Thanks for directing me to it Horhe, I wouldn't have found it otherwise and ironically it was an italian car like the Alfa that I was after. Ta for that. For anyone else that is interested, the poly count on the Alfa Romeo 147 sample is 100,000 in Max. Would still be interested to hear whether the poly counts on the others are similar. STRAT
I wouldn't use them for close ups, but for animation across a parking lot, they work great. we certainly do, and rendered wisely they look great still. i've also given each of the car's uvw texture a make-over, so i have each car in a selection of several different colours if i want. Chad Warner
I guess maybe I'll have to give it a try to see what they look like in a still then. And for Jim, I checked out a few of the 2004 set and they each averaged around 30000 polygons.
Horhe
...buried at the bottom of an old page more like... Jim I remember checking out dosch cars 2004 when they were something new and promising, thats when i stumbled accross the link. Otherwise i probably wouldnt have found it either. Nowhere does it say on the page that one can get a free sample. And no one wants to get 2004 car models, bah, their just yesterdays news ;] cheers Ps. I wouldnt recomend dosch. Try www.sugar3d.com Their models come in High, mid and low poly versions. Ps2. The proportions on these cars just dont cut it. They hence the model type but their deformed. Jim Mann
Thanks Chad/Horhe, I went and bought the 2007 collection because it had a good spread of cars. They look okay but the poly counts are more in the region of 125,000 to 160,000 this time around. I can maybe use one or two as hero cars but may end up relying on the usual old favourites from mid-ground back. Sugar 3d stuff looks worth a look but the renders are a bit ugly. Its superficial of me I know, but I always think its a shame when a 3D company doesn't appear to have made as much of an effort as it could have. Right, so my favourite 3D car/vehicle mix is going to be: Background: lowpolygon3D mid-ground to foreground: CG Databank, Stecki foreground/hero cars: Various higher poly models Jim
