joseph alexander
Is there a quick way to get my tree alpha map to stretch to the extents of each plane, besides individually uvw mapping each one?
STRAT
yup, take you tree maps into photoshop and crop them to the edges of the picture, then just update the material's alpha map with your freshly cropped image map.
joseph alexander
rrr. I didn't explain that well.. I have all these planes, usually I have one tree group and array them in viz, but this time I just have the planes.. is there a way to get the map to align itself to fit each of the planes, without indvidually alpha mapping each plane... this make sense? -joe
Tim Saunders
aren't you alpha mappinf the material itself? like this: image1=plane with material applied, in shaded mode. image2=plane in wire frame image3=my material with tree map in diffuse and alpha map in opacity. Tim Saunders
if you have your material set up like this, all you do is select each plane, and apply the material and the mapping is automatic if you did what strat said.
Bugga_Guy
If you are using Max, apply a UVW modifier and use the "plane" option. Once applied, click on Fit button, and make sure the proper direction is used (either x, y, z)
