titoqan
Hey All, New here Last night I was going thru an online tut for Max 5 and it said to click the inset tool when I was modifying an edit mesh with polygons for sub group. I got lost because I am using Viz 4 and did not find that tool as an option, and when I searched Viz help I did not even find inset anywhere in the help. My guess is that Viz does not have this but I would like to know how to do it in Viz? Thanks, Titoqan
Craig Ramsay
I dont think editable mesh has an inset tool... convert your object to and editable poly and you will be able to do it Craig
titoqan
Thanks for the quick response! My object is an editble poly but I have applied an editably mesh to it to asign faces material id's for a multi-subobject material. When I try to modify the poly I get a warning saying... "That a modifier exists in the stack that depends on topology. Changing parameters may have maybe bad" or something like that. I guess I will see what happens with the the edit mesh? Any other ideas? Craig Ramsay
Ah ok well you could do all your modeling as an editable poly, colapse it to and editable mesh and then assign your material ID's to the faces? That's how I would do it. Craig
