tomchang
I plan to buy a 3ds Max 8 Licence, i use to work with the english release, so i dont care about french. Strangely i observed that if i buy it in france it will cost US$6 200 (5125€) taxes included, meanwhile if i buy it in US (or CAnada) i only have to pay $3 495 (2900€). Near the half!! The fact is that i can't buy it online (at autodesk shop at least, if some one knows another one able to deliver in france...). My question is : "Am i autorized to use a Software in France that someone or myself bought in USA ?" the case is the same for Microsoft, adobe and other software prices... voltaire_ira
i think the license is valid where the software was purchased...i've read that somewhere in the EULA (end user license agreemenrt) though i'm not really sure. Its best to download the demo and read the EULA.
AJLynn
I looked this up and there's a clause in there that says I may not use the software outside of the country where I bought it. You're not even allowed to read the help file outside the country where you bought the software. Isn't that just kick-you-in-the-crotch-spit-on-your-face-fantastic? I'm pretty sure there are countries where that kind of clause is not permitted, but I don't know if France is one of them or which country's laws would apply. I see that the way they worded it, I actually violated the license last year by using it on my laptop when I was in Italy. I know the laugh test doesn't apply to copyright law, but am I covered under fair use? I don't feel bad about it, so I guess I just won't tell Autodesk. But what happens if you do international work and take your laptop between countries? Do they seriously expect you to buy a copy in every country? Or do people who do international work all use C4D? tomchang
Thanks for your answers and reflexions... I have to check French right now. Even i can't understand those difference of price. Same product, same box, less marketing and more expensive.... If i was a paranoiac stupid french i could think about american protectionism. To improve productivity for american companies, software are cheaper. cheers, tom

Craig Ramsay
Ok seems like it is possible to transfer my license, well they actually de-activate my UK license and generate a new Canadian license for me but there is an admin fee of about $500 US
Jeff Mottle
Ok seems like it is possible to transfer my license, well they actually de-activate my UK license and generate a new Canadian license for me but there is an admin fee of about $500 US Which is Ironic as it probably takes them less than 20 min to do all the paperwork and you actually paid more than you would have if you had just pruchased in Canada!
