graphix
I would go with the dual xeon setup myself. Even though the EE has 2MB of cache where the xeons only have one apiece a dual cpu setup will still be more benificial to graphics and rendering performance. As well as the given stability of the intel xeon motherboards it would be my personal choice for a rig. also note that your ram needs/should be ECC. and since it would appear that money is no object I would also suggest spending the extra cash on the quadro fx 2000 graphics card....faster core speed and memory. graphix
STRAT
i'd personally always go with the daul system, if not for a greater speed then for the memory management (which usually means greater speed)
Greg Hess
Dual Xeon all the way.
ch83575
I too would go with the dual xeon. But would probably recomend a faster hard disk setup. People dont realize how much faster (not to mention safer) a good RAID can be! Plus, graphix already said that money is no object, so there you go! graphix
good point ch83575 I would actually add a 15k scsi hard disk as the work drive and a mirror raid of 2 200gb 7200rpm 8mb cache seagate drives for my storage, seagate is just my preferance. graphix
