Vray materials Hdri Techniques. Need Help

Hello peeps,

I have a few questions in relation to my pic:confused: . Any help greatly appreciated.

1. With reflections, I currently have a HDRI image in the Vray Render Environment tab and Max environment tab. Should my materials reflection be a Falloff with frenszel or Parallel/perpendicular and Vray HDRI image or Vray Map with reflect.

To make it simpler the question is, do I let the materials reflect the envirnoments HDRI image or place the HDRI in the reflection tab to get more detail?

2. Is it possible to get caustic effects from a HDRI image? or is there a combination with a light?

3. Why does my HDRI image look blured in the background?

4. Any Tuts on Post in Photoshop on blurred highlights (overlay some layer? with multiply?)

5. My image looks flat. Any camera settings to get more depth?

Thanks

Matt

hi there,

1. Reflection map should be falloff>set to fresnel

2.No, for caustics U need a photon emitter (a light)

3. it's probably mapped as 'spherical environment'

4.U'd need 'render elements(Vray's G-buffer channels)' to separate specular, and then do post work on it.

5. U need a light source to make some contrast, it has nothing to do with camera, imho.

hope it helps
