Matt Starling
If you go to Customize in the menu bar and then customize user interface you can change the hot keys to suite yourself. Personally i use Ctrl\ for Zoom extents object, Ctrl space for pan view, Ctrl R for arc rotate, Alt A for align object, A and S for snap toggles and 0 for show grid toggle. Others include M for materials editor F9 for quick render, F10 for render diologue, H for selection diologue, R for scale object, E for rotate object, W for move object and Q for select object. The short cuts really do help with your speed of work.
