Bugga_Guy
I got an odd problem with max 7. When I load a texture map it will not show in the viewport, but oddly when I render a frame the texture renders in the image. I made sure the images are small enough, uvw modifer is added, and that display all textures in the "view" toolbar is set. when I click the "show map in view port" the object changes colour to a grey - but will not show the texture map. I never had this problem before. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance..
mtutaj
are you using any 3rd party render's?
Bugga_Guy
no using just default standard scanline.
roland
just right click go to configure, rendering method tick force 2 sided , default lighting and just play back and port to 1 light or 2 light. then you caan see what you want.
gfa2
Sounds like you need to click the "Show material in viewport" button (which is the little box with a checker pattern on it in the material editor). It's also an option under the material pull down menu in the material editor.
Bugga_Guy
no this seems to be something more serious than it sounds. I know all about the "show material in viewport button", when I click it the 3d shape just turns greyish white- but when I render I see the texture map, I know I have seen this with large texture maps 2500 pixels and up, but the textures I am using are small 500 pixels or less. I tried the configure menu - forcing 2 sided didn't help either.
gfa2
OK...I've seen this when using large maps and the software video driver. If you switch to the Direct3D or OpenGL that might solve it (assuming that you're not already using one of those).
Bugga_Guy
Gary, you are dead on about the Open GL. I tried changing the configuration in the choose driver set up and it works! I just can't figure out if I had it set up like this before and something caused it to deviate, or I mistaken somehow and selected Open GL.. Thanks Big Time! I owe you a beer.
