IC
I don't know about on the mac but on the PC they are under LightWave8/Programs/Presets. They're in individual folders there (Surface Editor, Hypervoxels etc). Hope that helps.
mrcharles
With the standard lw layout... look at the upper left menu buttons... file - edit - WINDOWS! Click on windows and see presets as second item (third item if you are in modeller) on the list... once you open the preset window you can choose from a library of presets for lightwave. Note, to create your own folder of custom presets you will have to go into the preset folder in you lightwave installation and add your new (empty)folder there... once you do that you can access the new folder from the preset dialog and save surface presets into it. IC
It's a funny thing but I just don't use Presets. I tend to create every single surface from scratch or I base them on recent models where I know the same lighting circumstances are going to apply. The Presets that come with the program are ok at best and I prefer Jpegs over procedurals 9 times out of 10.

jeremyhardin
the hypervoxel presets are usually scene specific too. unless you have the same emitter/lighting/scale in your scene as the one that created the preset, it's usually easier to do it from scratch for the particular need. Allen
Well, as for presets, I make my own once I have a surface that I really like. For instance - concrete parking lots, streets, sidewalks and alike. These don't change significantly from site to site. I load the preset and then change the diffuse map for the new "traffic pattern" I create for that particular model. Speeds the process up a little.
