Sawyer
I am just curious if anyone knows how to model this (max8) http://urbanpeel.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=up-1&Product_Code=BT-020&Category_Code=FT I talked a client out of this but that was because I didn't know how to do it. It seems pretty tough to me but I don't know it could be a snap. Any suggesitons?
mtutaj
I think I have it in .3ds. it is a very uncorfortable chair to sit in. When I am back in the office, I will take a look Mike
William Alexander
It's really a nurbs/nurms smooth/sudD operation. Loft a rectangle to a spline for the sweeping leg/arm. Select a poly at the seat area and extrude, rotate the leading face to vertical, extrude a bunch of times more horizontally (the seat edge). You can loft another rectangle or di a primative for the back leg up to the arc. Then use a bridge tool to connect the seat extrusion with the back leg (curved bridge). Then you can bridge a poly from the seat and a poly from the arm and bridge to create that goony goohoo opening...... .......then in the smooting select smooth and set the subD smooth levels untill it looks right...subD operation Don't know if it's any help. Modeling this kind of stuff in Modo but the workflow is the same in Max, C4D, XSI .....I'd show you a screen capture but Modo just blinked (crashed-very touchy about vid cards and current drivers)] WDA
Sawyer
Thanks for the tips WDA. Not too sure I can follow I have no nurbs skills but I may try. I really just wanted to see what I don't know as always its substantial. Cheers. Although Mike let me know if you have it. Love to see it. Gus_Rayvus
If you want to poly model it, here is a wireframe without subdivision to get you started. I suggest starting from the middle of the arm rest and working your way out.
William Alexander
LOL Ya what Gus said polymodel...been dealing with the world & apps outside of Max.... polymodeling, extrude ect... using the smooth parameters. I'm going to be quiet now WDA
