IC
Did anyone (UK) see Grand Designs last night? I want that house! They've been pretty mediocre recently but that brought the standard back up.
STRAT
damn, missed it. i'll have to wait until the Discovery re-runs now i love that program when i have the time to watch it. I always chuckle at the fact the presenter hasn't an ounce of faith in the build at the beginning of the job (or all the way through it come to that matter) and when the job is finally finished and looks most beautiful he's always eating humble pie whilst brown nosing the client. mind you, they nearly always go double over budget. JamesTaylor
was a brilliant scheme, and it certainly made a change having an architect that could get the job done. thought his methods, although maybe harsh on the contractors at times were spot on, a refreshing change to see something finish on time and under budget! Geoff
I liked the spaces, but personally felt it was a bit of a showroom for designer furniture. I mean 2 dining rooms! Admiditly you have to admire the fact it was completed on time and under budget (a first for grand designs?).
Sketchrender
Perosnally I thought the design was not up to much, blocky , and simple. I can not believe for one minute it came in under budget, 350,000 sterling......... And the interior the kitchen alone must have cost 20,000. The furniture was not my taste. Architects must get paid a lot to afford that house. 27,000 block and all the works included for 350,000 . Not a chance .......... My favourite house is the one built on the side of the hill, were he sand blasted the interior timber. And of course the Germans coming over to put together a prefab house. On time, to the minute , and even cleaned the tool boxes and truck before they left. phil
IC
Show me a contemporary house that isn't blocky and simple. Although it was deceptively simple since it was split level but didn't look like it. I particularly liked the 3.2m ceilings with full height doors. tdarcy
Yea saw the show, I did like the house mind you it was entertaining watching them getting the lorries up the hill. I'm beginning to think Architects in Belfast are getting paid too much though....maybe they should start spreading the wealth to their hard working Visualisers..HEHE TD
