leed
Can someone help me with this. I just do not know what the dark lines are, the shaddow is going the other way, no other lights are casting shadows, it goes when you get close, but when you move away it gets stronger. It is also always at 90 to the camera. I know it has something to do with the tree, which is a mesh because when the tree is switched off the problem goes away. It is also happening on the instances of the tree. Any ideas? Lee
skala67
try making the values of the ray depth and/or shadow depth in the options section of the render settings menu, higher. The max values are 50. This may be a result of layers of transparencies that have become opaque which is a common problem if this is a polygonal tree. let us know... good luck
leed
Yes that's the first thing I tried. But it makes no difference, It is not a acting like a shadowing or reflection issue because it moves relative to the camera. Any other ideas? skala67
have you tried asking maxon support? They've been good at answering questions that i've had. I think you need to have a resgistered version of Cinema4D. http://www.maxoncomputer.com/support_form.asp
Ernest Burden III
It looks like the UPC sticker for the trees. I have not seen this, and would have suggested the ray/shadow depth, too. We failed, so you must contact Maxon.
kilian
It is unfortunately a bug (only in version 9.5) which was announced to Maxon. I think that they work on top in this moment. This bug appears during the use of transparencies or copies alpha.
STRAT
at least maxon are on it (not always the when you report bugs to them ) something i've yet to come across, even though i'm a heavey opacity map user. tell us if you find a work-around Lee

This bug appears during the use of transparencies or copies alpha. Thanks for the help. kilian after a late night testing this I found that it was because of a transparancy in one of the grass surfaces. and nothing to do with the tree. As you say. I will not use the grass layers for the distance shots, just the close up bits. and hope Maxon sorts it out soon. Thanks again. Lee
Jorge Arango
This subject has been discussed in the frenchcinema forum: http://www.frenchcinema4d.com/forum/index.php?topic=13824.0 particularly in this post from novembrer 19: Bonne nouvelle ! On vient de recevoir une réponse de Maxon à propos de ce bug: this problem is fixed with a free update, that will be available in the coming weeks. Unfortunately I can't exactly say when it will be available, but I hope in less than 3 weeks. Best Regards, Marcus Spranger Technical Support Donc d'ici 3 semaines un correctif devrait être disponible ! Hope they fix it soon. leed
I dont no if this will help but i had problem with alpha channel and tree images it turned out buy swapping the standed sky object from cinema object menu to the neww plugin sky this fixed my problem. I havn't got any sky object in this yet, but that seems odd that the sky object would mess up alpha maps. Lee
