Al_Zyma
Im relatively new to visualisation, Ive managed to teach myself to use VizRender as part of ADT to create images of housing for marketing brochures etc, but having looked through some of the images in the gallery on this site I can see I still have much to learn. What Im wondering now is this, Can I expect to get the quality Ive seen in visuals people have created in Viz and Max using VizRender? Or is VizRender nothing more than an introduction? AJLynn
Viz render is a render program attached to Architectural Desktop - it has the ability to set up materials, lights and cameras, and can use radiosity and a render engine that looks to me to be a version of the "default scanline renderer". It does not have modelling tools, instead it works off models you have made in ADT. Viz and Max are full-featured computer modeling, rendering and animation programs that can do everything Viz Render can do, plus modelling and animation, can work with a much broader range of lights and materials, and can use render plugins like mental ray (included in newer versions), VRay, Brazil, Maxwell, etc. Max has a lot of features Viz lacks, that you may or may not want, but a lot of people prefer it. After using it for a while, I tried to go back to Viz2005 on my school's PCs and it just annoyed me. Viz Render is easy to learn, free for ADT users and can do renders that are passable in a lot of situations, but for the quality of renders that you see on this site you need a full package. (Viz/Max and C4D are popular, some people like Maya and there are people out there doing good things with Softimage and Modo.)
Al_Zyma
So as I thought then, Im not going to manage the quality of light/shade & materials in vizrender. Mmmmm....Now to devise a plot to get my MD to spend some dosh on Viz!! Thanks for the reply Andrew.
