rendering in Lightscape

i can see you are trying to lit the interior just using natural daylight. lightscape's daylight is very hard to control in such a scene like yours and takes a considerable longer time. while you can still try using daylight, i suggest you have several more lights with low energy in the interior.

first thing i noticed is the low sigmented spots... and i think you need to work on your materials for a while, the wood is dummy and tiles arent shining or reflecting anything at all.

about the design i think if you used a darker shade of wood like wange of dark oak it'll be much more warmer, and use some wall cladding too... dont use shiny materials if you wanna keep the warm feeling though :)

good work but still WIP ;)

Hi James. Good WIP. I think a space like this really needs to be thought of in the spiritual sense of shadow and light. I think you also need to look at the qualities of direct and diffused light.

The panels that are pulled away from the ceiling are a nice place to put lighting. It will give the sense of levitation and freedom of restraint. I would get rid of the recessed lights and leave it at that.

I think your textures need work some tiling work but more importantly the reflections and highlights need to be addressed.

I am not sure if direct light from the sun is the best choice for this space. A more diffuse lighting seem to fit better in this space. Look at using panels to diffuse light.

Attached is a rendering of the interior of a church. Notice the lighting levels and contrasts on the wall. The use of direct light only happens in a few spaces and the rest is diffused.

I hope this helps.

A few things that jump out at first-

The geometric quality of the lights - these are hemispherical, not recessed, right? You need to make them smooth, and the birghtness is off, they should glow from the center.

The light colored wood assembly - UVW map it so the grain of the vertical parts is vertical.

Ditto on the red color and the recessed lighting.

I like the floor - are those tatami? They could have more texture.
