Carlocki
I have to buy a new 3d software I'm using with some good results lightwave 7.5 But doing only architecture stuff i'm thinking about using 3dmax I'm also Italian and in Italy max has the biggest diffusion on market
JamesTaylor
If your only doing architecture stuff then you might want to think about viz rather than max - all functionality except for sub object animation and it should save your wallet a little! IC
Are you buying it personally or is it your company? I understand you wanting to use Max with the user base in the arch viz sector but the argument is much weaker to justify the purchase price now that Maxwell and (sometime soon hopefully) vray standalone are on the horizon. There are a lot of software options and LightWave is perfectly capable. Release 9 should bring huge improvements to it as well.
Carlocki
jat: for the rendering engine max and viz are the same? IC: by company are you sayng me that Maxwell abnd vray will be stand alone program and not something integrated in Max? Anyway I love Lightwave is very powerfull
JamesTaylor
for the rendering engines both viz and max ship with the same engines. although an awfull lot of people now use third party rendering engines that plug into viz or max.
IC
You can use Maxwell with LightWave and various other 3d apps already. VRay has been talked about as a standalone program for ages but it doesn't seem to be much of a priority.
Carlocki
Does exist a vray for lightwave?
Allen
No. VRay does not exist for LW yet. I saw that VRay just released a renderer for SketchUp - so perhaps the stand alone render is on its way...perhaps
lambros
I would rather say that if you use comfortable with lightwave, you should use lightwave. For archviz, all mid-highend applications are powerful enough, so you should use what feels better. Download some demos and try them out, you can try max, maya, softimage and much more (you can even try vray demo on max)
