Disappearing objects

Everytime i minimize 3d studio max and leave it for a while like this then restore it again all the objects in the viewport disappears i can see only the x,y and z letters and some x's, so my question is: is there anyway to 'refresh' the viewport to make the objects appear again without restarting max ?

Hi mazen

you may try to

1- right click then unhide all

2- It may be a problem of the vga card ( & the number of lines in the viewport )

3 - you may need to uninstall 3ds max & setup it again

4- finaly problem of windows reinstall it ( not recomanded for now )

looks like a vga driver problem to me. what card are you using? drivers? in max are you using opengl/directx or some custom driver?

The refresh viewport key is ` (on the left of 1 in most keyboards). If you toggle viewports does anything change?

Geforce 6600 with nvidia drivers v7.8.0.1 and i'm using opengl

I tried the refresh button but it didnt work.

Weird stuff like that happens to me all the time, I "refresh" the viewport by mouse-wheel-clicking in it. (Don't know if that's the best way...)

to refresh the viewport , try to maximize and back to four panel... (not sure)

 

sure the prob is with ur VGA card, try to update ur driver or change to a high end one;)

i have a simialr prob at times. again i refresh by middle mouse button clicking on screen and all is fine.

 

i put it down to the amount of info which the graphic card needs to process

Nope the middle mouse button doesnt refresh it

I get something like that happen to me every so often. I usually have to "restore down" max to a floating window then maximize again, then everything is fine.. Why that it is, I dunno, but works for me.
