JamesTaylor
i'm trying to get the use of the texture map and other elements of the 3d post options nailed in combustion.........unfortunately only with limited sucess so far!!! i've followed a tutorial from the discreet site for using the texture map and everything works fine, i've then tried to recreate the tut with my own images but suffer problems at the final stage. having rendered an image from max and saved it as an .RPF file with all the sections such as z, coverage, uv etc included, i've then imported the file into combustion and applied the texture map from under the 3d post section. everything seems to work fine at this point and i can select the material id, object id and render node of different objects in the render. however when i then try to replace the texture in the rendered image with a new texture i just get flat colours as a replacement when it should show another image. if anyone has any suggestions i'd be glad to hear them!! as i have tried altering as many options as i can without things completely becoming random choices. i guess my explanation is a little vague but i'm new to combustion so find it a little difficult to explain, but ask any questions and i'll try to answer! the images attached may help! they so before and after along with the image that should appear on the plane after the texture map is applied. Thanks James
AJNY
Hi James, Did you figure this out? It seems to work fine on mine. I just had to make sure there was a bitmap in the diffuse channel in max.
Sketchrender
a sucky calf lookin to a Honda........... I haven't got a clue what that is about. What are you using combustion for? I am interested , just lost.... thanks
JamesTaylor
AJNY, got it sorted thanks - turned out that when using Vray i doesn't write .rpf file correctly, doesn't include the uvw info. I ended up trying it with scanline and it was fine 1st time! I got in touch with Vlado and the team at choas but so far no responce. You ever tried it with vray as the renderer? AJNY
Hi James, No I've got a serious love/hate relationship with Mental Ray. Works great with combustion especially when you need to render out mattes for your objects. Cheers!
