Boizell
hi , this is my first render using vray, its a residential building designed by a local architect.. it took 13 hours 28 mins to render 1200x900.. my question is how can i reduce render time to a logical limit? or is it by any chance normal?? here is the image and the settings i had.. and CC r welcome of course thank you
JamesTaylor
1st off - using adaptive QMC is ok but i think the settings of 1 / 15 are very high and can be reduced. i usually adaptive subdivision at default setting, i know people tweak it but never by that much 2nd - Quasi-MonteCarlo GI defaults at 8 subdivs and 3 secondary bounces, you have 15 and 10, this will make a massive difference on render time. the secondary bounces are nice to turn up, but it will cost you check out http://www.spot3d.com for some advanced understanding of settings the image does look nice tho, unfortunately its too small for a decent view, can you post a larger version, also let us have a look at your Irridance map settings and tell us at what size you render the image at. Boizell
here is the irradiance map settings and as i mentioned above the image size for the render was 1200x900. the file size limit for this forum does not allow me to upload a larger image... Christopher Nichols
Yeah.. the high setting is better suited for animations. For a still you can use Medium. Even set your Subd down to 30 or so. Combine that with the othe suggestions by James and you will see a huge increase in speed.
