color halftone control

Hey all,

Does anyone know of any good PS/Illustrator plug-ins or filters that would give you greater control over the color halftone process? I am looking for something that can convert an image into halftone but rather than breaking it down into a series of small circles maybe you could choose diamonds, or a customized shape of some kind. Having more precise control is crucial b/c we're going to vectorize the pattern into DWG format and use it to program a machine for customized perforated steel panels. Thanks in advance.
