Hi

This is my first post in this forum. I'd really appreciate a critique of the attached images. I am not new to Mental Ray or Vray, but fairly new to photo-matching. This is for a Design Review Package to be submitted to the City soon, and so I'd like to get professional opinions and suggestions.

Thanks

Very nice render...

The match with the photograph is quite good..

but your building deserves to be in the center of atraction; I mean: the first one it`s all about that brick building.....That was your intention?

I'm not sure if what I said makes sense (my english is not so good & I have a few whiskies on me, so.......)

Overall: good pictures dude

The first image is excellent: photo-matching and lighting are spot-on. The second image's lighting however looks a bit off: notice how much contrast there is between sunlight and shadow on the right-hand-side building with the shadows of the balconies. I think there should be equal difference between the left and right facades in your building. Perhaps your direct sun is 'off'?

The matching is very good. I liked the illumination also, but I wouldn't crop the building on the first image. Can't you get another picture from the street? I know it's probably difficult, but the lack of the building's canopy really bothers me. Another thing, still on the first one: the orange cladding is too saturated compared to the rest of the scene, and you should check the mapping of the columns on the street, try mapping them individually to avoid the "array" of the texture.

Excellent work.

Thanks all for your comments. I just wanted to see what you caught. We have decided to re-shoot that first image so we can get more sky above the building. Also, hopefully not such a white-out on the sky. I'll have to work on that wood saturation. It can look very orange in some lighting, and honey-brown color in others.

That second image is a tough one. I'm having to simulate a lot of the reflected environment since the surrounding buildings are only 2 story. So I have to guess what would be reflected, and then create it in photoshop on the background image.

Any suggestions of how to correct the contrast issue here?
