Recommended Posts

Hola Daniel,

I guess it could be a number of things but something similar happened to me not too long ago and someone here told me to disconnect and reconnect all the cables inside your pc including videocard, sound, ram and dust off and clean everything. it worked for me and havnt had the problem again. try it see if it helps

Sooooo many things that can cause that. If unplugging and replugging everything doesn't work, could be a problem with power supply, mb or ram, a piece of loose material causing a short... or, some mb's will do that if the cpu fan is broken (or it thinks the cpu fan is broken) or the cpu is overheating (or it thinks the cpu is overheating)... do you get any beeps? And when does it happen in the boot process? Have you overclocked anything? Does your mb allow you to underclock anything?

I used to have a PC with subpar PC133 ram and it would often shut off during boot. It was a nice ASUS board that allowed changing the RAM speed and multiplier. I mucked around until I found that if I underclocked the RAM to 130MHz (and lost a bit of cpu performance in the process because if I increased the multiplier it would overclock the cpu, which I didn't want) it was stable. Ended up doing that instead of paying for new ram.

When turning on the PC, it seems to start normally, but suddenly it turns off.

P.M.S ??

archkre....try to find out if the problem is caused by hardware or software.

if you suspect the software, try to find out what programs start with your system and remove one by one untill you find the cause.

use tools for registry repair and such (search the net for such tools).

if nothing else, re-install windows, nothing will be lost from your hard-drives so you have nothing to lose ;)

if hardware, check cables, jumpers, what ever seems suspected, put BIOS to fail-safe setup.

or simply, ask a friend who can come over to see, help over the net is always difficult.

There was a virus spread two years ago, did exactly the same thing. Better check your taskmanager also and see what is running out there....

No, it is not a windows failure, it happens in the morning, tries to start and at some point it shuts off and I have to push the button of PC over and over untill @ try #33

it works!

It is like a car that has no gas...

Sounds like a hardware problem !

On a second though I think it is happenning after the last upgrade of antivirus "Avast!"

I am going to try uninstalling that!
