here's a wierd one to think about. this morning i was trying to rander an exterior scene at 3000x2000 and everytime i would hit render viz would crash. but wen i rendered at lowere rez settings (below 1024) it rendered fine. then i disabled the vray frame buffer, and enabled the defalt viz frame window and it rendered full rez just fine.

I would let Chaos know about this. Generally speaking you almost always want to use the Vray Frame buffer.

vray buffer is good for testing - you can use the render mouse location so you don't have to wait for the whole thing, just move your mouse over the areas you need.

final renders i do in max buffer, i've not noticed any difference.

I agree - the functionality beats the max buffer hands down. I have however read threads over at the chaos forums from others outlining issues with it in its present incarnation plus I've had a few myself.. I could be wrong but I think Mr Vray himself Vlado suggested it was probably better to use the standard frame buffer for critical jobs at present..
