BEKA
Hi all, What software do you use for presentation besides PowerPoint. Is there any better ? Thanks
BrianKitts
For quick drop-in presentations...more and more lately I've just been exporting slideshows from Adobe Acrobat. Its simplistic, and of course you get the great PDF compression levels with it. If I'm just sending out progress updates I'll just send out the images straight up assembled into a PDF presentation, if its more final I'll drop em on a layout with titles created in photoshop. Powerpoint with its transitions and "animated" bullets and stuff (I use the term animated very loosely) has got to be the most annoying presentation product ever released. I cry when I think about some of the presentations I had to sit though in college all due to powerpoint! But this thread isn't here for PP bashing so I apologize for my ranting :-) PDF! ecastillor
If you want a more profesional look....go with Flash.... But then again...Ive seen great stuff on powerpoint and some lousy things on flash...so I guess when it comes down to it, it depends more on the designer than the software.... Good luck
Ricardo Eloy
Director is also a good ideal, with some cool interactive 3D features.

Devin Johnston
I think the draw with Power Point is the fact that it's easy to use; if you can use Microsoft Word then you can use Power Point. Flash and Director are great programs but they require a more advanced level of understanding to be able to use properly. This is a problem from some of the older people in business who don't want to learn a new program, but are pretty efficient at Power Point. My office uses Power Point exclusively however I think another option would allow for greater creativity.
JamesTaylor
i disagree with how everyone knocks powerpoint so much, i'm not going to say its an amazingly advanced piece of kit or anything but it definately serves a purpose. at the end of the day i think bad powerpoint presentations are a result non designers / people without artistic ability using the product. it is designed to be simple and used to its strengths of creating quick and simple presentations is a powerful tool. any dodgy looking slides are down to lack of graphic appreciation by the person who put it together, not the software. pmanahan
There is a program from Apple called "Keynote". It is very similar to Powerpoint but has better transitions and the presentation looks much cleaner, more visually pleasant than Powerpoint. Only runs on Macs though. pmanahan
