alfienoakes
I know you can do this in VRAy advanced etc.. But I have VRAY FREE at the moment, and when I add my skydome in, it messes up my light calcs. Before I have the sky dome in, I get really nice light levels, but when I add it in, it turns everything darker. I have excluded it from the cast shadows / receive shadows etc.. but it still darkens everything up.. Is there anything I can do?? kippu
you can go into vray system rollout object properties and make it invisible to GI not sure if its in vray free....
tommyjj
just right-click on the skydome and select 'vray properties'. (I using 3dsmax it may be called something else in other packages) then uncheck 'generate GI' or, if you want some GI from the skydome just turn the value down
tommyjj
My last post was rubbish... Ignore it, i didnt read your post properly If you've got a lightsource outside the skydome that is preventing light from entering the scene (IES Sun, Targer Light, Vray light etc) then setting the cast shadows/recieve shadows won't always work (dunno why). I've found that going into the 'parameters' rollout of the light and clicking 'exclude' then finding your skydome object and adding it to the excluded list for that light usually works
