hsa
I need some comments on how I can impove this image. The model isn't 100% complete and the site is yet to be done but any suggestions to improve the look would be welcome (I am a newbie). I am using VizRender 2006 with ADT. My basic settings are as follows: 90% initial quality 4 refines Light filters set at 3 Regather is on Brightness and contrast at 65 and 50 I tried adaptive subdivision before I left work yesterday but when I go to the office this morning I got a memory error. Would adaptive subdivision really make much of a difference? Thanks for any comments and tips Steve
Jason Matthews
Hi Steve. This should be posted in the Work In Progress thread instead of GD. Other than that welcome to the forum. I think that most of the trouble you are having is from the materials you are using and the lack of meshing but mostly you need to use the daylight sysem for exterior scenes and under the exposure control set it to logarythmic. You should go though each piece of the model and assign a mesh. To do this select on the object, for instance the exterior walls, right-click and go to properties. You should be able to change the properties to have a mesh. Set it to like 2 or 3 feet. Do this for each object. The larger the object the larger the mesh setting. You can also do a global mesh which is nice but the same size mesh is set to all objects regardless of size. Re-run the solution. Set the initial quality to like 50% turn off filtering and refinments. Turn off regathering. By doing all of this you will reduce your render times dramatically. See how the scene looks. Too bright, too dark? Then look at materials. Radiosity bounces light from surface to surface and colors bleed to other surfaces. You might have to give your materials a radiosity override (advanced lighting override). Serach the forum for better discriptions and how to's. You should also look at the scale of your textures. The bricks are not noticable. After doing all of this start adusting the refinements. Try to set these pretty high. You might have to do it per object like you did for meshing. After you have these set pretty high then set the filtering to like 2 or 3 depending on how smooth you want the surfaces. Finally, reset the solution and adjust the quality to like 90%.
