manta
I think I remember reading something about using the light cache in both the direct and indirect slots, and it sort of renders progressivly like maxwell, in other words it renders the whole picture with each pass getting better, so it gives you an overall idea of how the final output will look, just stop the render when you've reached a point that you get the info you need... Don't know if that helps...

JamesTaylor
i remember there being a thread on the forums at http://www.chaosgroup.com, by Natty i think, it had some strange global settings for QMC samplier but he said it was very fast for test renders maybe have a search and see what you can find, there was a sample file too download and test

Joseph Petrino
Without knowing what version of Vray you are using and having no knowledge of what your settings are it's difficult to say. but if you have left things at their default state.... In the QMC panel change Adap amt to 1.0 and Noise thresh to 1.0. Fast but ugly. In the Irrad map panel change the preset to Low. In the Image Samp. panel use Fixed rate and set to 1.0. Also fast and ugly.
