JamesTaylor
hi all, i tring to create paving that is curved to match the curvature of the walls as in the attached render sample. i've lofted a profile along a path and applied the texture i need and it works fine where its only a gentle curve but as you can see it doesn't work where there are sharper corners to go around. what am i missing - how do i correct this? i have normalise selected in the lofts surface parameters and have tried adding extra vertex points at the corner but no luck. render and wire frame attached Thanks James
MegaPixel
I've always had problems getting decent mapping on complicated Lofting paths. What version of MAX are you using? If you are using 8 or 7.5, I'd recommend trying the new Sweep modifier and using it's mapping coords. If not, then I would be tempted to break those arc segments out of that Loft path into indivdual objects and reloft those parts and get the mapping right before stitching back onto the main path. JamesTaylor
to be honest, i'm using viz 2006 but its seemed closer to max than posting in the viz 4 forum. i'll have a play with just that area, but in the meantime has anyone got any more suggestions? theqball
the new sweep modifier should be in viz 2006 also. i agree with MegaPixel, this should be the easiest way.
Hao La
If that curve is editable poly, when you apply UVW map , slect those polygon at the curve path and apply UVW for them until they match with other parts.
