theqball
this script might do what you want... found on scriptspot.com Wrapper 1.06 Wraps or drapes one mesh (Source) to another (Target). This is just a means of projection that retains the mesh body. Source Mesh vertex heights above Z=0 are transformed to an offset distance from the Target Mesh. Can choose to align the source to the target mesh curvature or have a straight projection. Formerly known as MeshDrape Written by Rab Gordon. Click for homepage. upshot
Depending on the level of detail your looking for... sometimes a good ol' bumpmap will do the trick.
DareManojlo
Hi, Maybe you should try using Conform/Compound object. Also check the help file about details on how to use Conform (even shows a picture of terrain with a road on it ).
angelo
Gavin, It's been a while, but I think you may want to try the shape merge command. It should give you the option to cut out the road or merge the shape into/onto the terrain. There is a way immediately after the command to save the selection, so you can re-select it in the future for material mapping. Good luck! RTurner
There were a few demonstrations for this at AU this year. All the course outlines are posted on autodesks website. I can send you the PDF if you need. I think they all use shape merge.

bully712
shape merge. i draw all my roads in plan, possition them over the terrain in plan, then use shapemerge to make the actual road follow the terrain. For eye-level, and closeup view, I use this method. For Aerials I render out the site plan in photoshop, and then I use it as a blanket over the mesh. Works very well for me. titoqan
I use a plug-in called "Glue Tool" from itoosoft.com and it is free. It takes flat lines and creates 3d lines that follow the surface below it. Take a look and good luck Titoqan
