notamondayfan
hey guys, jus wondering if theres a way you can set max / vis to automatically render different frames, from different camera angles, with out having to manually change it? i want to do this so i can leave the pc running over night, and render several high res renders from presetup cameras. i dont know anything about network rendering, and it isnt really possible anyway. any ideas? cheers, deano! Ricardo Eloy
You can do it using VideoPost, setting up a simple animation where each frame would be a different camera, and then save it as bitmap sequence. OR, if you have max 7.5, you can use the new Batch Render feature, that also allows one to have different light/material/render setups for each camera. Pretty sweet feature, imo. ShaunDon
Or you could go to http://www.scriptspot.com and download Camera Animator 1.0. It was written to do precisely what you're describing. Shaun
Aaron2004
Is it possible to render cameras from mulitple files?
ShaunDon
I don't think I get your meaning, Aaron. You mean render multiple max files? For that you could use backburner.
Aaron2004
Yeah...sorry I wasn't very clear...I'll try backburner. I wanted to render out cameras from about 10-12 files over night without having 10-12 sessions of viz open.

theqball
if it's the same data and just different cameras it's best to keep in all in one file. You could merge the cameras from the various files into one master file and then use the batch render in Viz 2006 or Max7.5. Since you are using Viz2005 i would agree with the suggestion to just use backburner to render the files. seach for network rendering in the help docs for more information on this. For others that deal with this on a regular basis the new batch render and scene states are great features, but if you are looking for something with a bit more control you should try out RPManager. it doesn't say if it works with viz or not, but you could try the trial max6~8 version on Viz2005 or later to see. The trial is not time limited and is only limited by the number of passes you can do.
