looking for HDRI skies

Can someone help me with this whole HDRI situation. Why are there so many interior HDRI's? And I have seen so many exaples (like at Dosche's extreme high res) where the image is so specifix (oil well in BG or under a bridge) that it would seem hard to find an application that would use that image. At least for arch viz and esp. for reflections. Maybe some would be great for dramatic lighting of a single product but a room with 1 light and 1 window and brown walls that seems like something I would never use. Whats up?

Thanks

Ha. I've also thought this. Not NEARLY enough good all-purpose backgrounds.

Interior HDRIs are very useful for reflections which is juyst as important as diffuse lighting, if not more. In fact, they are huge. Keep in mind that in things like feature films that use renderman, HDRIs are mainly used for reflections. Lets say you have a room with lets say a robot that has a lot of cool brushed metal on it. You want that metal to pick up interesting specular hits. Can only do that with an HDRI that has lots of light sources in it.

On the other hand, I can see how indoor ones are not as needed for people rendering buildings or interiors. Super useful for people doing characters.
