ovzoc
Hi! I'm working on an interior scene (bout 85k faces) with GI 500 samples and FG 200 samples. Small objects do not generate GI and materials are simple (not raytraced or a big complex material). With one source of light (even spor or skylight) the rendering time is satisfactory.. When I put over 3 -4 lights rendering time increases too much! What happens then if I want to light an interior eg restaurant where I 'll have to put 15 - 20 or even more to my scene? Is there a way to decrease rendering time or am I doing something wrong with the lights??? Thanks ovzoc
theqball
Hi ovzoc, Here are a few links that should help you, I have found these on this forum and others. The things to start balancing are Photons per light and Samples settings. As you go up in number of lights these setting generally need to go down to maintain render times. http://www.impresszio.hu/szabolcs/MentalRay/MentalRaySampling.htm http://www.lamrug.org/ http://www.treddi.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=8436 http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=190232&page=1&pp=15 http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=120241&highlight=Mental+lighting http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=124999&highlight=Mental+lighting http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=247329&highlight=Mental+lighting http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=202955&highlight=Mental+lighting http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=227499&highlight=Mental+lighting http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=196698&highlight=Mental+lighting http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=196698&highlight=Mental+lighting
