rachelC Posted December 13, 2005 Share Posted December 13, 2005 hello, since all your good comments while i was doing an interior in vray last week, i was wondering if you could comment on my external scene please. i have 2 lights: Vray light dome RGB(215,229,255) value 1.5 and a vray direct light RGB (255,247,216) value 1.5 with vray shadow. i am rendering expodential. what do you think? i am still working on the textures. ShaunDon Posted December 13, 2005 Share Posted December 13, 2005 My preference in doing exteriors with VRay over the years has been to stick to linear multiply. The exponential color mapping is a big help for interior scenes in preventing hotspots and burnout, however the light setup in exteriors is much simpler to control and as a rule the environment and sun multipliers should both be set to 1.0. I'll adjust the dark and bright multipliers from there if I'm not happy with the light levels. Switching to eye level is also a good idea. You'll want to master the human perspective before doing an aerial -- they require a great deal more skill to pull off and still feel real, plus adding photo content in post is a lot more difficult as most products are for ground-level shots.
