Gander0
Hi all I remember an article in CG arch about someone who modelled the new york city skyline for what i think was the film Day After Tomorrow. What im looking for in the article is something about vray displacement. I believe the artist made the relevant skyline using this technique. I remember quite precise modelling of skyscraper rooves with vents etc etc. All very vague I know, anyway if anyone can help me track down this article it would be great I need to model a number of buildings in london and was looking to find if this was the best method. I've looked though the site but maybe im not looking in the right place. Many thanks

Gander0
Hmmm that article doesnt seem to mention any modelling of the city "We received the base geometry for the scene from another vendor and it was simply massive – 5 million polys, etc. The Director then requested that we add snow elements over the entire model." Could have been an artist whos work didnt even appear in the final film but im pretty sure the roof details were created with vray displacement
