C.Vestal
I have a very detailed interior designer. They are slow to pay so I am posting this: This is after we digitally captured a carpet sample. The map (pattern) was very ornate with swirls: "Rust in carpet needs to be burgundy. The outlining on the "scrolling" on each side of blue (which is dark green now) needs to be darker or black. The other green in carpet is too bright/lime in color. Needs to be darkened." Ernest Burden III
the client didn't like the high end cars I had put in he wanted beaters. I didn't have beaters. I faced the opposite earlier this year drawing an apartment building on Park Avenue. I think the Ferrarri infront of every building is a regrettable cliche. But this was a building for people who would spend 12 million dollars per apartment, so I went 'upscale'. Not enough, the client came back saying I should put in a limo. I had Porsche SUV, Mercedes, Rover, Jaguar, a Mini and a NY taxi. I agreed to make one Benz black, but otherwise told them no.
ShaunDon
Oklahoma is NOT an almost all 'white' state. I used to live there. It's quite diverse, really. Maybe not as much as New York, but still diverse. Sorry Ernest, I didn't mean to suggest Oklahoma is another Maine, merely that the part where this building was going and the people it served were almost exclusively white. I'll have to take their word on this one as I've never traveled further away from the east coast than West Virginia. Developers have such attitudes about money. Yeah, I guess I've more or less learned my place in the world through having to work with developers. Many of them are very nice people, but sometimes I get the feeling that I'm being sized up and I'm not even buying property! That being said, working with developers can be a lot more fun. They won't be as anal as the architects when it comes to the building design, so you can make minor adjustments to get a better image. But it's incredible how picky the developers can be about the entourage -- as long as the building isn't on fire, they're more concerned that the visible people in the photo are representative of their target demographic. STRAT
Can we have another sun on this side of the building ? yup, i get that one too! also, i'm commonly asked to change car number plates, or change the colour of people's clothing. stupid things like that. i'm also often requested to take out 'common' looking people, or coloured people, or disabled people etc. i was once even asked to change the flight formation of a flock of birds i put in the sky. loydering
Just thought of another typical request: A good part of our projects are photosimulations and happen year round. Typically, a project proposal is due mid winter and we have to do several sims for it. Almost everytime the client asks us if we could put leaves back on the trees. In Photoshop: Filter>Other>Change Season That request is just a little more frequent than if we can change the time of day. Sure we just go back out to the site at the appropriate time... Juan Altieri
what about this photoshop suggestion: Filter>Other>put sunlight they allways send me photos (almost blurry) of the environment on a storm grey day...and they like the pic on a sunny day

Joseph Petrino
An Interior Designer was too cheap to pay for a second view, so he wanted to see all four walls in one view.
Brian Cassil
A health center I did for BYU (Brigham Young University) told me that the skirt on a girl in the background was too short (it was just above the knees). So I put in a different girl but also put in a car with GOUTES (rival school) on the license plate.

skala67
"this looks great...so how do i turn on and off the trees so i can see whats behind" (this was after he insisted I put the existing trees in front of the building..) I use 3-d xfrog trees directly in C4D, hence the true annoyance of the request.. Filter>Other>Lumberjack...
4DM
Regarding the female figure with dog placed in front of a traditional country house in Wiltshire (West of England): "You'll have to change the colour of that dog - these kind of people would only ever have a black or chocolate labrador" Wow, inverse canine racism ! Beat that!! Cheers, D.

tommyjj
I recently worked on a 5-apartment development of an old victorian building. All the apartments were completely different shapes/sizes, some over 2 floors, some not etc. Anyway, the developer was getting impatient and when i told him i had completed 2 of the 5 apartments he said "cant you just copy the images of the ones you've already done?" I tried to explain that you cant use images of tiny 1-bed studio and pass them off as a large 3-bed apartment (just have 3 images of the same room with bedroom 1, bedroom 2 etc)... but it basically fell upon deaf ears. ho hum... SunGlare
Todays' Story! After I've put together site topo, buliding model, neigbour houses models, everything with detailded data from on site measuements and digital topo map, I am showing the 3d to the Architect: Me: This is it. A: House[our] looks too big. Me: Well... redesign it. A: I can't. City approved plans. Me: So.. we're ok. A: No. neghbours think its too big. Me: It'is big. A: Make it Look...um.. smaller. Me: What about the facts? A: ... Me: Maybe different camera angle? /after so many shots/ A: Nah. Just do what I've told you. Me: A: Those garage dors, has to be smaller then theirs. Me: It is a pespective, not an axonometry. A: So..? Me: Ok. I'll make it smaller. A: ... after this one give me view from the other side. Me: But then house will be to small, comparing to... A: ... it's OK. Me: ..to. (..) Nevermind. So, I've produced quasi view, of quasi house, for a quasi architect. I hope that nighbour will be blind, othervise ... same old song:p. vizwhiz
i once worked on a project To be built in Surrey England Updown Court, which sold for a princely sum, eventually This was a 40,000 sq ft spec house, palatial would be an understatement The contractor Told our designer That The local zoning council would only approve 30,000 square feet for a residence in This area ?? so whats To do The contractor Then Took The final prints To a local print shop and They reduced The prints by 25% to be ONLY 75% of FULL SIZE which The contractor scaled at The next zoning council meeting To prove That it was LESS THAN The 30,000 square foot maximum Too Funny ** Randy http://www.updowncourt.com/ http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/mar2005/nf20050315_2103_db093.htm oops They must have figured out the actual square footage after it was built

I love it when clients screw with the rules of reality. Just make the print smaller. That should fix the problem. "Hi! I'm earth. Have we met?"
