notamondayfan
hey guys im not sure, but i think theres a modifier that alows abjects to "grow" around other objects. im tryin 2 make a organic lookin building, which has a ball shape inside a cage, and i need it to look like the ball has grown and the cage has held it back. kinda like what bread does when its being cooked, some flows over the edges where it can. any ideas, deano! realt
the only way I can think of at the moment is to use reactor - a reactor soft body will be able to squooge (I think that is the correct term =) out of a cage. as far as I am aware, there is no modifier for this though (except of course the soft body modifier)
notamondayfan
umm... i def remember a modifier in true space, was really good 4 creating things like hour glass sand. kinda suprised at max!
realt
max can use warps to deform objects - like the sand in an hour-glass - but a sphere expanding like bread through a cage is a totally different proposition - it's not being deformed in a simple way thus I don't think that there is an easy way (simply applying a modifier) to get what you want... have a look at blob meshes - they may do what you want. btw - reactor is a part of max.. notamondayfan
oh yea i know. ive kinda box modeled it now, but its just a useful thing 2 know. im not too familiar with reactor, and i dont have the time 2 learn it, and also as its becoming phased out i dont think theres much point
theqball
... and also as its becoming phased out i dont think theres much point not sure where you heard this, but i know for a fact it's not being phased out anytime soon. cloth modifier might get you what you want also, but i think soft bodies is probably the best way to go.
