3DArchitecture
Problem: Black spots appear in Mental Ray renderings. Reason: Final Gather does not work with Multi/sub materials with Raytrace reflections that are "FACETED". Solution: Turn "FACETED" OFF. See 3DS MAX files attached. CGary
You're the man!!! IT WORKED!!!! It was not faceted though but the Submaterial issue was really the culprit. Thanks Kenneth Lloyd
AJLynn
I've found that Max Raytrace maps and anything that uses them (e.g., Architectural materials) are nothing but trouble when using anything but Default Scanline Renderer. Get rid of them completely and use Arch&Design materials instead, and mental ray will be much happier.
CGary
Hello AJLyn, yes I noticed that too. There seems to be a conflict between the defaul scanlines and mental ray. I guess you confirmed the suspicion. Thanks!
