Hi,

I am currently using Max7, win2k, Default scanline render + Lighttracer.

I am doing a large arch still render. I need to render in in smaller tiles. I am aware of render region.

I would like to know, is there any script/plugin ( freeware ) that automates the task of doing multiple user defined ( for example 9 x 9 tiles ) batch render regions.

I do not have the time for purchase option. so I am looking out for free downloads from net or fellow colleagues.

---

Alternatively,

Is there available a script, that can take a snapshot of the render frame buffer at user specified intervals and incrementally save it to the harddisk in a user specified file/format ?

---

Pls advise. Urgent.

Thanks

Its standard in max and viz see screenshot below, you render in stripes rather than regions. Press the define button and everything is very straight forward. Choose an overlap of pixels of about 10~20.

your second question, i dont know of a script or something else that does that.

Thanks m8, Stripes has helped me get done what i needed.

.

But my other question still stands.

.

Maybe there is a script or plugin that makes a copy of the render buffer at regular intervals and write it out to hard disk at regular intervals. Maybe some scriptie may think that this could be a nice project for him / her to hone their maxscript skills, and share it too :)

.

Another piece of sw that does the same is a plugin called BigRender 2.0 ( though its a commercial version :( )

.

Thanks

I wrote a script called Region Net Render that splits the render in multiple tiles and sends each tile as a job to network render. Such script was rendered useless by the Split Scanline feature in Backburner. If you have MAX 4-6 I believe it ships in the 2nd CD as a sample. The version on my website is the MAX 3 version, and although it may work, it's not the same.

Someone used the script I wrote as a base for a more complex Net Rendering script. You can find it on scriptspot.com .

There's no script or plugin that could make a copy of the render buffer as it goes. This would have to be written as a feature of the renderer itself.
