Jonathan Sanchez
Hey guys, I've posted this same room under daylight last week at http://www.cgarchitect.com/vb/showthread.php?t=14034. Now I am rendering the same room but at night. Here's what I have so far. I dont really like it. I cant put my hand on what it is but something is not right. What do you guys recommend I do to make it more realistic? I'm using 3ds 8 and vray. I placed to vray lights on recessed ceiling lights and a spotlight for back lamp. See through lamp at front of pic I'm still working on so forgive if not of high quality.
Ismael
How about some IES Luminaires from Erco for the downlights? Maybe try that with Radiosity too for comparizon. Seems like there is too much even light in the space and lack of contrast. http://www.erco.com/download/en/en_index_download.htm The lighting analysis tool in Viz/Max is one of my favorite tools. Once somebody gave a simple IES distribution that made a nice pattern on the wall, however the intensity of it was around 8,000 fc which means that it was as bright as the Sun... Too much light and one is blinded and the same is true if there is no light. How much light would be needed depends on the task... http://www.ibacos.com/hpl4.html Ismael
Yaseck
I'm not any master in VRay, but I think the vray-lights are not good for the evening scene. You need highcontrast lights.
Jonathan Sanchez
Okay, I realized you guys were right. I have seen night shots with vray lights that were stupendous before, but I figured I'll give ies a shot. So I did and I've attached the result. I used quick setting because I was doing lots of tweaking so there is some noise I'll fix that w/final render. What do you guys think now?

Tim Saunders
lots better. for the quality of the image, try throwing in a night city or neighborhood outside the window. thought it might not be there in reality, it would make it look a lot more convincing. Yaseck
Look at the lamp at the corner. Does it really emit such soft light? I think the shape of the light on the walls should be more sharp.

About the color of the wall it is: R-224, G-180, B-122.
