twingate
Hi. I have been searching around a bit for software to generate artificial HDR light probe images. So far I have found nothing. There are packages to reverse an hdr into a set of lights for maya and lightwave but not to generate probes. Wouldn't it be great to be able to give typical location, time/date values and weather values to generate an artificial probe? Just thought I'd ask around before I start coding. Thanks, t
STRAT
try a look in these links - http://interpolation.virtualave.net/makehdr/default_en.htm and http://www.debevec.org/Research/HDR/#intro and http://www.debevec.org/HDRShop/
kid
I think this may help you. Making HDRI's with Terragen
twingate
Thanks guys. I have looked at these sites and read all most of it before. Terragen seems of interest, though I havent had time to experiment with it yet. What I'm after is an accurate sky-simulation rather than artificial world generation. kid
What I'm after is an accurate sky-simulation rather than artificial world generation. The use of Terregen in that tutorial was not to produce a pretty background. You can make a sky with different cloud levels, haze, time of day, etc and save them out as unclamped .hdr images, then put them together at different exposures to create a useful HDRI image. If that's not accurate enough, then you could try Radiance. Do you have a lot of patience Radiance I have seen HDR sky images created with it, but I wouldn't have a clue how to do it. Enlighten
Strat there is a version of Radiance for windows, there is a link from the front page, its compatable with windows 95/98 and NT, I have always been meaning to try it out, but at the same time I am slightly dubious about the methods it employs.
