pauldoherty
You need to get yourself a copy of the cinema archicad exchange disc. Available at http://www.maxon.net
Ace_Face
You need to get yourself a copy of the cinema archicad exchange disc. Available at http://www.maxon.net You can use 3ds export from ArchiCAD. Open the 3D window Save As... select 3DStudio File from the drop down menu. The conversion is 3.28 to convert english to metric units (if that's necessary for you) as C4D uses metric for it's units.
tomwaltz
You have two options: 1) use 3DS 2) Get the C4D "Exchange" add-on from Maxon, which allows you to semi-link your Archicad model into C4D, allowing for much more interative editing. I think it's $100 USD.
