jtiscareno
I am looking for some tips on how to create a simple animated "cloudy sky". My intent is as I walk-thru a high-rise floor have the background clouds move, I dont have a specific bmp for the background sky, I just have a gradient blue from light to dakr as background. Thanks in advance, walkthru is in max 7 with vray.
schmoron13
A simple and great idea was used by Brian Taylor in making Rustboy. If you go to his site, http://www.rustboy.com/rustweb.htm, and head to the 7th page of the "making" section (it's flash so there's no direct link) he shows how he used a tiled cloud map onto a series of planes that could be animated. great technique and worth checking out...there's even a sample movie of it and he notes that no compositing was done... hope this helps, -doron
Hazdaz
Yea I was gonna suggest going with some tiles clouds also. Just find some cool looking clounds on Google - or take some pics of your own, and just make a multi-planed background. There is no reason to waste tons and tons and tons of render time with making "real" 3D clounds.
Jeff Mottle
Probably a bit too much to spend for one tutorial, but there was a decent cloud tutorial in the ArchiCD from 3dquakers here: http://3dquakers1.com/webroot5/review.php?id=1 I reviewed the CD here: http://www.cgarchitect.com/news/Reviews/Review029_1.asp
cH1ooo
If you have access to Dreamscape, you can also make some quick personalized aniamtions of clouds... a great tool for animations, though not very refined for very high resolutions (4K+)
