only3d
hi evrybody, ive imported a model from ACAD (using 'linked dwg') as i did many times before but this time the model kinda "breaks" in viewport mode. it doesnt bother me when i render but it does bother when i want 2 work on my model so any ideas will b welcomed. tnx - on (using max 7)
carloscristerna
try seting up your viewports in 2 sided mode......right click on the name of the viewport and check force two sided. cheers
only3d
well tnx but its definitly not a force-2-sided problem. usualy when thats the case the model wont look so jagged, it will just miss certain faces. again tnx anyways but thats not the problem
theqball
Try the software display mode and see if the problem persists. If not then see my post in this thread for what drivers and display mode to use. If it still does occur in software mode than it might be a possible bug, so send us a screen capture or better description of the issue and I might be able to point you in the right direction from there. cH1ooo
instaed of linked dwg, try importing the dwg... see if the problem still persists. this will help u narrow down ur problems to graphic displays or software/file errors...

Mandeep, Technically there’s nothing really different between the dwg import code vs. the filelink code (unless you use legacy dwg import) and this really doesn’t tell us (Autodesk technical support) if there’s a graphics problem or not. Switching to software display mode is the first thing that should always be done if suspecting a graphics driver or display problem. This forces the viewport draw loop to go through the cpu and not the gpu so it rules out any driver possibilities.
only3d
hi again i dont think its a driver thing either. but i think it might have something 2 do w 'clipping' cuz when i fiddled w the viewport clipping and FOV it pretty much solved the problem so i think that might b it. anyways im good 4 now but still tnx 4 the help oh and btw- ive seen this on someones pc but i dont know how he did it but when he panned or orbitted the model it went to wireframe mode and back automatically. that could b very usefull in my case so if anyone knows how 2 do it thatll b great again tnx
theqball
The setting you are looking for is Adaptive Degradation, but generally wireframe display is slower than shaded on most graphics cards. I would recommend going to bbox instead.
only3d
tnx shane, but how do i activate the setting? i chose 'bbox' under both general and active degradation like u said but it has no effect yet. m i missing somthing?
theqball
sorry about that... main menu: Views -> Adaptive Degradation or the letter "o" on your keyboard if you are using standard shortcuts.
