jtiscareno
Question on calculating and using Light cache saved maps of one project but for diffrent views. Do I need to calculate only ONCE the Light Cache for any view and the use this aved map for rest of views or is there another "faster" way of calculating a light cache map like the "Incremental add to current map" setting for the Irradiance Map calculation.... Also, is it true that we can calcualte both the light cache and the IR map on a small image and the re-use them on a hi-res final image??? Thanks in advance! carloscristerna
some times you can use the same maps for diferent views....if you are using vray you can save an incremental map of four diferent angles and then you can use that map to render from any view. I have don that for animations. using mental ray, I usually render a small image and save the photon map and final gather map for later use in a hi-res render, and it renders nice and fast. you just have to check "preview" in the final gather settings. hope this help. neba77
As far as i understand, light cache is strictly view dependent so it actualy needs to be calculated for every camera view. The iradiance map on the other hand is only partly view dependet, so with option incremental add to current map you ca gather information in the map save it and the re use it for multiple views. There is a nice tutorial about it on vray on-line help file: http://www.spot3d.com/vray/help/VRayHelp150beta/index.htm bye.
kippu
to your second part of question ...... only light cache is resolution independent and not irradiance map..... of course for hi res images ... you can calculate irrmap at half the size and then save it and use it
vertexART
yes, U can. 1. make an anim that would consist of as many frames as U have cams, so each frame is a new view. In render settings set to render whole sequence. 2.then set your prim and secondary as LC, with 'fly-through' mode enabled. This is related to number of frames involved, so the length of the anim must be correct! Adjust subdivs amount for quality/time balance. and save the LC map of course. Disable the final image rendering and calculate the map. 3.load the LC map, and use it as secondary for each cam. Primary U can use whatever U want. hope it helps
