Maxwell posts

Hi all,

I just wanted to make a quick post about our new Maxwell forums. I knew when I launched these forums, especially given the state of customer satisfaction at the moment, that things would be a bit tense. I fully appreciate the frustration (don't forget I work for a future Maxwell Reseller) and fully understand everyone's points of view.

I would like however for things to be toned down just a few notches though. CGA is well known for the professionalism of its members and the high caliber discussions, and I'd like to make sure we maintain that reputation.

I've been watching the threads carefully and while I do not agree with tone of some of the posts, I'm not going to start banning or censoring posts. Instead what I would like to ask for all of you is to try to keep the discussions as professional, to the point and relevant as possible. I don't mind discussions about what is going on or opinions, but try to keep everything in check. I don't want for CGA to become known as the place to go to air dirty laundry or make inappropriate comments.

If you have any questions, feel free to post. We have two very excellent moderators in our Maxwell forum who will be able to help me out with this.

Thanks everyone!

Cheers,

Jeff

Well, there have been so many things said, Jeff, and your post doesn't really explain which of these things is bothering you. I imagine we'd be more likely to curb our apparently inappropriate behavior if we knew what it was you consider to be 'inappropriate'.

Wow, I thought it has been tame and respectful, almost to the point of looking like a lovefest. Can you identify the sort of things that are troubling you?.

I think the talk of legal action is the primary culprit here.

Also, it will be much more fun when there is something more positive to discuss than how screwed up the situation is.

Agreed Ernest, once RC5 is released we'll be able to discuss technical issues which will be a nice change of pace.

Adehus I don't think Jeff was saying that anything inappropriate has been said yet but that he doesn’t want the conversations to degrade down to nothing but bickering and name calling. I know he is just interested in keeping the topics and discussions at CGA relevant and professional nothing more.

I agree with your request for selfmoderation Jeff, it should been there from the start but as alot of these people are angry for whatever reason they have selfmoderation is the last thing they think about and no offense to the moderators but they're angry users aswell and then the brickhouse comes crashing down as everyone stands on one side of it all.

Magnus, are you implying that we can't do our jobs properly if we are dissatisfied with the current situation? Our opinion about what is going on is completely divorced from our duties as moderators.

I would personally prefer that people not use terms like "stupid" when referring to the opinions of others.

No no Frances, but my concern was with that you both mods are also human and ofcourse unhappy about the situation and that might just affect the judgement in some situations. And if that would happen then this would be a place without rules like the Maxwell forum once was.. noone wants that. Objectivity is always difficult when it concerns oneself and when money is involved as it is in this case.

And i'm not calling you or anyone else stupid, i'm not that stupid to call a woman like you that Frances.

I'm sorry if what i said came across as a attack at someone, it wasn't meant to be like that. I just wanted to say what i thought could happen if things got more outta control here.

I apologize.

I think what Fran was refering to was the post Maximus posted quote:

"If you assume RC5 will be a failure then you're wrong, maybe you set out to be dissapointed even if it renders the whole world down to every little neutron in realtime on a pocketcalculator. I know there's alot of people who think like that. Be realistic and not stupid please."

I am glad someone else saw this it has been bothering me.

now that i stared so long at the photoshopped picture it kinda looks normal.

I've known Fran through this forum for several years, and her fairness and insight impressed me from the start. Beyond that, we have worked together on a number of projects in the last year and I have the highest respect for her. As in...really, I mean that. The funny thing is that I have never actually met her. I'm not sure when that will happen, but I look forward to the opportunity whenever it presents itself. So my mental image of her is shaped by the various avatars she has used. Currently I favor the maxwell forum one.

I'm sure I had a point somewhere along the way, but I've misplaced it.

Okay, now I know I really need glasses; but I seriously can't see that much of a difference between the 2 images, ( other than maybe Whiskey's Fran image having a more sinister smile (Sorrry Fran :( )).

bricklyne you can't be serious!

on the leftside you have an openminded, warm, funny, charming, beautiful woman...on the righthand side you have buffalo bill after he finished his 'dress' for his transformation (the bill from silence of the lambs that is)

EDIT: oops too late
