Guest nazcaLine
hi guys. first of all i'm not sure if i'm in the right section...maybe in the max section but...i rendered it with vray 1.09, so here i am... if you look at the "water" in this scene, you'll notice it looks strange, not like water but like crumpled paper. i used a very big plane with 150-200 segments and applied noise modifier. i just can't get it to look wavy...it's desperating, i tried all the variations in the noise modifier parameter...any suggestions? Clifton Santiago
On the water plane you need to make sure you your noise modifier is set so the noise is small enough to appear correct in relation to the context. Your "waves" need to be much smaller than they are. You may need to add length and width segments to the plane to accomplish this. Also, in your V-Ray water material, make the diffuse color much darker, like a dark blue. Also, set your refraction color to 100% black. There is no need to have partially transparent water in this situation. Set the reflection swatch to white and check the Fresnel box. Unclick the "L" button next to it and adjust the Fresnel IOR value until you have the desired amount of reflection. Turn the reflection glossiness below 1.0 in order to scatter the reflections a bit. Turn up your subdivs to 24 or so to increase the glossy reflection quality. If it renders too slow, click the use interpolation button. Oh, half the stuff I described probably isn't available in vray 1.09. Upgrade to the latest (1.47.03) for best results.
