I set a challange to myself to model up a simple view inspired form a photgraph I took while i was staying in Rome.

I set a limit of 8 hours for the image from start to finsh (not including rendering time) modelled in Max using V-ray and post in PS.

What do you think? before you ask its a large glass ball lamp its not a bomb left there for Dangermouse...

crits welcome...

cheers

hi,

Nice work, but I have sth to point to you.

The upper part of the curtain is not right because it should close to a

poll or sth and not look like the down part.I think that you should have a straight upper line not a curly one.

The bomb lamp is funny.:)

Smokin Awesome! I'm glad you pre-empted any comments about the sphere thingy. It looks cool but peculiar. I do agree a little about the curtains except maybe what it needs is just the hint of some hardware at the top. Also, I think the we are seeing just a little too much of that wall on the right. Some may comment on the over-exposure of the outside but I love it! Great work... especially for 8 hrs. What was the render time and at what res?

Thanks for your comments fellas.

The actual fixing bracket is fixed behind the curtain so you dont actually see it...If i had more time i could crimp up the top of the curtain, but within the timescale i think its not too bad.

The lighting and glows where all added in later in PS..

Render time 6hrs 40 minutes on a very old AMD 1600, with half a gig of ram.

rendered out to 3500x2476 pixels.
