Photo Montage Scale

Hello, I'm in the process of developing a Viz sign for a remodel project and am having trouble keeping an objective outlook on the scale of the people and cars in this image.

For reference, the planter is about 3 ft. high and the trees about 9.5 ft. high.

Thanks for visiting and I appreciate the feedback. :)

If i was you i would use a cylinder in your scene set at a height of 1750mm or to use a person marker.

this way your people will look right, people vary in height so keep them around the based around your cylinder height and you should be okay

The planter is not 3 feet high. Because if it is, the railings are all at about 4.5 feet, and the curb about 1 - 1.5 feet. You need to compare to something else--for example, the height of the first crosspost at the entry, then divide that down to get a reality check on what 6 feet would be.

your curb seems to high to me, my good man. People also seem too high as well.... keep at it though your getting there :)

Ernest I had a look at the link in your sig. Some of those images are fantastic, I love the almost watercolour look of them. Just out of interest in a nutshell how do you achieve that?

Andy, Ernest is, at a premature age, one of the elder statesmen of this forum. If you do a search on his name you'll find his tutorials and everything else he's posted over the last few years.

He's a modest fella but you can't get that amount of professional experience in a nutshell.

If you'd been the first to ask, I wouldn't have butted in.

No offence intended either way......................

I do not take offense at your post Ian but being an industry professional myself I do like to think I have an understanding of how much professional experience goes into my, and other peoples images. I did not think asking a simple question indicated to the contrary so much that I needed this pointed out to me.

As you suggest, I will search for my answer.

Sorry, it was the use of the word nutshell that made me reply.

Anyway, I shouldn't answer questions directed to others. It's just that this one in particular has been asked more than just about anything else since I've been a member.

Last time I 'just go and check my emails' after 5 hours in the pub.

Ah, yes. PWI posting while impared, dangerous. I've done it, got caught, did some time in the pen. But now I'm reformed--until the next time my wife finds a really great red.

Andy, that is a fairly frequent question which I've addressed with varying detail at many points. I actually did do a nutshell version just a few days ago in my thread in 'finished work', so look that one up for the short answer. Also, I would prefer not to hijack this thread by talking about my work here. But thank you for taking the time to check out my site and the compliment.
