enigma
We all know that making instances in a scene is very easy, like shift dragging an object will make an instance of that object and we could also make them unique by clicking make unique button n the mod param's. but here's my question, what if i have multiple similar geometry which i would want to make all of them an instance of one particular object in the scene - all geom are already created/existing, is there a particular way to achieve that in max? Maybe a one a million case but it might be a big help if we want to adjust parameters... Example: you created 3 omni lights, not by cloning or by any other means like array or whatsoever, you created the lights by simply clicking anywhere in the scene. And you want the 2 other lights to become an instance of 1 light the scene, so you can control the parameters by adjusting only one light's parameters. I may sound stupid coz you might think that i should have instanced the lights beforehand, but you'll never know.... I am looking for whatever way or is there a script for this kind of problem? the.3dsmax.blogger
You will have to write a script to make instances of the existing light and align it to the 'other' lights and delete the 'other' lights. I donot understand the nuances of maxscript yet. but logic & conceptualisation is good !! dont u think so cheers !!!
ipdesigner
*delete the '2 other light' and create a 'new 2 lights' by an 'instance', just be sure to locate in the same position;) ..i hope i got it for you right:)
