IC
Michael I think you'd get a lot more people viewing if you posted this in the WIP section. This is one of the least frequented forums on the board due to the limited number of LightWave users. However............ I think the view is very distracting. You're looking directly at a car and cutting out most of the architecture. The main car also looks too specular and reflective to my eye. Too cg. On the architectural modelling, I'd say that you need more detail e.g. the roof tiles look too clipped. The whole thing looks a little flat and sharp. Great start overall though. vpii@vpii.com
Iain, Thanks for your reply. I need to work on the roof a little more. It is to read metal I have a bump on it now that needs to be removed it is catching light and making it look like tiles. I wanted to post here for just that reason, try to build some activity here in the Lightwave area. Here is another view I am working on.
Charles Gaushell
Hello Michael, A bit too much asphalt in the foreground for me. Nice building though.
vpii@vpii.com
There is just alot of open lot in this development. Here is a top view. What you been up to Charles have not seen you around?
Charles Gaushell
We have been so busy I can hardly think straight. Just hired a new 3d artist and are looking for more. I'm so busy running the company that I'm spending nearly as much time in production as I did even 6 months ago - that is a good problem though. Now I get to swoop in and picke and choose things I want to do.....LOL Some day I'll convince you to join us. LOL Should be up to 12-15 people by the end of 2006 - assuming we can find the right people. If you know of anyone interested, please send them our way. vpii@vpii.com
Good to hear all is well there. Send some of that work my way. I render for food.
IC
In some of those images it looks like there's no glass in the windows and the sun is a little harsh (too much contrast). Glass always has the potential to really make an exterior. Nice use of colour but it's hard to really judge when the images are so small. I agree about getting this Forum going as there's more and more users joining these days but I do think this is a wip thread rather than a LW one. Allen
Michael, It's looking good. Add some tire wear on the pavement with some hand painted diffuse maps (the texture shown seems to be repetitive and uninteresting). Be subtle. Perhaps move the camera closer and change the lighting to a cooler or warmer shade and the angle to early morning or dusk to create more interesting shadows. Sites like these can be tough to make the look appealing - the architecture is pleasing though - so camera changes and lighting should do the trick. otacon
All the other lightwavers are commenting, so heres my little crit. The shadows are razor sharp, try switching to area light as sun, or using motion blur trick to soften the shadow. I would replace the cars with some more common models, i rarely if ever see cars like the ones in this parking lot. I like the sky in the second pic, and i agree about adding some variation to the asphalt. I would also put a procedural texture on the diffuse channel for some of the building surfaces, to break up that perfection. Is this monte carlo radiosity with fprime? vpii@vpii.com
Jason thanks for your comments. The cars actually where asked to be put in. This is a storage garage for collector and highend cars. Yes it is fprime monte carlo. I am trying for a clear day full sun look.
