can *.bak be created in a diff file folder than the dwgs

When you open a DWG file stored in a folder, work with it and then save it, that DWG is renamed to BAK and a new drawing with the same name as the original is created. Therefore the BAK is in the same folder. It's not moved after that.

Why do you need to hide BAK files? To protect data in case of accidental file delection?

well when you have a folder with a lot of dwgs in it

be nice if those baks are somewhere else just for real estate purposes

for example one folder for dwg another for bak

i rarely open a bak... its just extra clutter...

tho having them is critical.. just that they are in the way...

i know just being cranky...:D :D :D

i religiously (as in always) create a separate bak folder for every project

and move the bak files into This folder several Times during The day

just in case The dwg file gets corrupted you can go back To The bak

file

This keeps The current directory cleaner

and it also gives you an extra backup file per dwg

i have had To rename a bak file back into a dwg from Time To Time

it can be a Life saver

maybe you could undefine The save command

To add a "dos shell" command To move *.bak To a specified sub/folder

i dont remember dos or xdos shell commands off of The Top of my pointed head

does anyone remember "edlin" ??

(my all Time favorite Text editor)

Hello!

In ADT at the command prompt, typ in MOVEBAK and it will ask for a "new value" which is where you want to type in the new location. You will need to create the folder first if it doesn't already exist as it will not create it on it's own, and will return to default behavior if it can not find or connect to the path.

Hope this does what you need!
